The pipe organ at St. Andrew’s Church may have been upgraded over the years, but the pipes have been in place for a century. The celebration of those 100 years is underway.

A romantic evening of music accented by 500 candles is the theme of the Feb. 10 Saturdays at 7 concert at St. Andrew’s United Church.

Dubbed “Love by Candlelight,” the event promises to be an enchanting evening as the intimate qualities of music and light are explored.

Each piece of music for the program has been carefully selected by St. Andrew’s music director Devon Hansen to create an atmosphere of wonder. It will feature love songs from stage and screen, such as Phantom of the Opera as well as jazz standards, including Fly Me to the Moon.

Hansen will demonstrate his piano skills throughout the evening, alongside other local musicians, including violinists Jennifer Trinca and Heather Sarson. Vocalists Andrew Derynck, Colin Bell, Mikayla Lozon, Victoria Hoshowsky, Meggan MacKenzie and Christine Baribeau will perform as well.

The program also features Veronica Redfern on the French horn; Filip Stasiak on the cello, Jessica Morrow on the oboe and Margaret Campbell and Doug Banwell on the flute. A string quartet will round out the performance.

The event begins at 7 p.m. with the venue opening at 6:30 p.m. Donations of $20 per person are suggested and will be accepted at the door. All are welcome.
