Clubs stolen, woman shoved

Chatham-Kent police are looking for the man who stole a set of golf clubs, pushed an elderly woman to the ground and took her car Sunday afternoon.

Police say the incident took place about 4:30 p.m. They report the man stole the clubs from a local business. He left the area and went to Baldoon Road.

At that point, police say he shoved a senior citizen to the ground and stole her car keys before making off in her vehicle.

Police scoured the area, but could not find the vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Manuela Carmona-Moreno by email at Manuelac@chatham-kent.ca. Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.

Police report the suspect(s) forced their way in through the front door, doing about $2,000 damage on the way in, and stealing an estimated $8,000 in cash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Cole Freeman at colef@chatham-kent.ca. Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.

Shots fired near Ridgetown

In the early morning hours of Sunday, at approximately 1:22 a.m., police received two calls from residents regarding gunshots in the area of New Scotland Line.

Officers attended the area and were unable to locate anyone. However, they found several 12-guage shotgun shells and .308 rifle casings.

At this time, it is believed that unknown suspect(s) were shooting at deer that were observed “yarding” a short distance from where the casings were located. Nothing of concern was located in the adjacent field or nearby bush.

There is no danger to public safety, police say.

Man disobeys court order

Police say a man went where the courts told him to avoid.

On Sunday, police say the man attended a work place, violating his release conditions.

On top of that, police say the man threw coffee at staff members when they confronted him.

He was arrested and held for a bailing hearing and is charged with breaching a court order.
