Booze grab leads to charges

A Chatham man faces charges in the wake of a fall theft from a Chatham liquor store.

On Nov. 17, Chatham-Kent police say a man entered the LCBO on Wellington Street West in Chatham. He removed several items from the shelves and left without making any attempts to pay.

The man was identified through video surveillance, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Thursday afternoon, an officer located and arrested the man on Oxley Drive in Chatham.

A 26-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

Missed court date

A missed court appearance this past summer has led to additional charges against a Chatham man.

Back in July, a man was arrested and released with a future court date. When he failed to make a court appearance, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Thursday, the man was located and arrested on Wellington Street West in Chatham.

A 32-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. He is charged with failing to comply with a probation order, failing to attend court, two counts of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property.

Hydro pole hit, driver charged

A single-vehicle crash Thursday night in Thamesville has led to an impaired charge.

At 10:47 p.m., emergency crews responded to a motor-vehicle collision on Jane Road in Thamesville.

Upon arrival, officers learned the vehicle left the roadway and struck a hydro pole. The pole was badly damaged and had to be repaired by Hydro One crews.

Officers believed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested him. The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests, and the vehicle was towed.

A 23-year-old Thamesville man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

Bail violation

A call of a man standing in the middle of Keil Drive about 4:45 a.m. Friday morning led to charges.

Police went to check on the man’s well being, found out his identity, and realized he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with an undertaking.

In December 2023, when the man failed to report to his probation officer, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

A 41-year-old Chatham-Kent man was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date. He faces charges of failing to comply with a probation order and failing to comply with an undertaking.
