The toys are set to return Jan. 21 for the annual Chatham-Kent Toy Show and Sale.

The event celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, and organizers expect it to continue to grow.

The show, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bradley Centre, had close to 200 tables of items on display last year. This time around, co-organizer Rob Sterling thinks it could be even bigger.

“It was very well received. We had by far our highest attendance last year that we ever had,” he said. “We had over 2,000 people come throughout the day.”

Based on the applications for space from interested vendors, Sterling thinks there will be at least another 200 tables of items on display.

Those include farm toys, die-cast models, toys to play with and “highly collectible items,” Sterling said. There will also be sports cards, action figures, model planes, cars, trains, ships and coins.

“That’s something we really like about the show is we have people who bring in everything from inexpensive play toys all the way up to highly collectible items. This tends to draw a pretty wide audience,” he said.

Home Depot will return to offer its workshop area for kids as well.

The show runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students and free for children aged six and under.

“It’s a pretty inexpensive thing to do on what’s often a cold January day,” Sterling said.

Proceeds are earmarked for the 4-H Toy Club and Outreach for Hunger food bank.
