Gas theft suspect nabbed

Police say they have the man behind three instances of stealing gasoline.

At about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, police attended an address on Erie Street North in Wheatley and located the man.

Police say the man was wanted for multiple theft-of-gasoline investigations in September, October and November of this year.

A 51-year-old Wheatley man has been charged with three counts of theft and three counts of possession of stolen property. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Cornucopia of charges

Saturday morning saw police arrest a man in Ridgetown and lay seven charges against him.

At 9:20 a.m., police attended a Ridgetown address and made the arrest, which they say stemmed from multiple incidents on several dates.

A 22-year-old man is charged with two counts of uttering threats, three counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault with a weapon and mischief.

The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Hiding in the bedroom

A man faces numerous charges after police found him hiding out in a bedroom Saturday evening in Chatham.

The 51-year-old man, who was known to police, lied about his identity and was arrested on multiple warrants from several jurisdictions, including Chatham-Kent, police say. He was further charged with obstructing police, and held for a bail hearing.

Woman charged for stealing a vehicle

Saturday morning didn’t end well four a suspected thief.

Police received word about 8:30 a.m. that someone stole a vehicle from a home in Dresden.

Officers intercepted the vehicle on Bear Line Road, where a 23-year-old female driver was arrested for theft and possession of stolen property.

Warrant arrest

A mischievous suspect wound up in police hands Sunday.

At 2:19 p.m., police located the man on Queen Street in Chatham.

The officer confirmed the man was wanted on multiple warrants, and he was arrested.

A 48-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been charged with four counts of mischief, three counts of failing to comply with a release order and four counts of failing to attend court. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Theft arrest

A traffic stop led to additional charges against a local man on Sunday.

Police made the stop just before 10 p.m. on Grand Avenue in Chatham.

The officer discovered the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant in a theft investigation from April in Chatham.

A 27-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

The cops are watching

Just a reminder it’s festive RIDE season, and police are also doing periodic speed traps.

Sunday morning, officers conducted a traffic enforcement blitz on McCreary Line at Kimball Road in Wallaceburg.

As a result, 11 people were nailed for speeding.
