At approximately 7:37 p.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to a Park Avenue East address in Chatham in response to a domestic dispute.

Police learned earlier that day the accused and victim were involved in an argument that quickly escalated into a physical fight. During the argument, police say the man refused to allow the woman to leave, blocking the door, pushing her to the floor her and choking her before she was able to get away and call police.

A 26-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with assault, forcible confinement and assault causing bodily harm.

Walking in traffic leads to arrest

An apparently intoxicated stroll in and out of traffic landed a Chatham woman some time in the drunk tank Monday.

At 4:20 p.m., police responded to the area of Given Road and McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham in response to a woman walking out onto the roadway.

Police and EMS arrived and located the woman who they found to be highly intoxicated and unable to care for herself, police say.
