A Chatham man has to answer to a number of domestic-related charges following an investigation by Chatham-Kent police.

The investigation began late Tuesday afternoon, as officers learned a man and a woman had been involved in two verbal arguments that escalated into violence.

Warrant arrest

Chatham-Kent police recently scooped up a man they say never even bothered to touch base with the probation office following a summer arrest.

On Aug. 3, the courts released the man with conditions to report to the probation office the next day. When the man failed to show, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

In addition to failing to comply with a probation order, the man was charged in other incidents.

On Thursday at about 3:20 a.m., police located the man in the area of Superior Street and Louise Street in Tilbury. The officers confirmed the warrants, and the man was arrested.

A 42-year-old Tilbury man faces the following charges: failing to comply with a probation order, failing to comply with a release order, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited and two counts of failing to attend court. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
