Assault charges
A Chatham man has to answer to a number of domestic-related charges following an investigation by Chatham-Kent police.
The investigation began late Tuesday afternoon, as officers learned a man and a woman had been involved in two verbal arguments that escalated into violence.
Police gathered information and formed grounds to arrest the man. He was located and arrested.
A 21-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon and two counts of assaults.
Railway cops apprehend woman
Canadian Pacific Railway police scooped up a woman on Wednesday who was ultimately wanted for skipping court.
The CP police contacted Chatham-Kent police about 9:15 a.m. to advise that they located the woman on Murray Street in Chatham, and she was now in their custody.
A 48-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court concerning an assault investigation and two failing to comply with an undertaking charges.
Warrant arrest
Chatham-Kent police recently scooped up a man they say never even bothered to touch base with the probation office following a summer arrest.
On Aug. 3, the courts released the man with conditions to report to the probation office the next day. When the man failed to show, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
In addition to failing to comply with a probation order, the man was charged in other incidents.
On Thursday at about 3:20 a.m., police located the man in the area of Superior Street and Louise Street in Tilbury. The officers confirmed the warrants, and the man was arrested.
A 42-year-old Tilbury man faces the following charges: failing to comply with a probation order, failing to comply with a release order, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited and two counts of failing to attend court. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
