LETTER: Nonsensical to get armoured cop truck

Editor: The editorial in the Sept. 21 Chatham Voice, “Over the top,” was bang on.

A seven-tonne armoured vehicle is not designed to de-escalate; quite the opposite!
No one will say that lobbying to get something for our community is not a good thing, and that should be encouraged. But get us something we need.
The optics for this are so wrong, especially in a community such as ours.
And $50,000 for paint is just the start of an ongoing expense.
We hear time and time again that council doesn’t always get to see the line-by-line breakdown of the police budget. Well, here’s a strong reason why they should.
Such a disappointment by the leadership involved.
