One person is dead following a horrific crash on the westbound Highway 401 early Tuesday morning in Chatham-Kent.
According to the OPP, officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover accident about 1:08 a.m.
However, while en route, the officers were updated and learned a transport had slammed into the passenger vehicle that had rolled over.
The two people in the passenger vehicle were taken to hospital, but the passenger, 41, from Leamington, died in hospital, police say.
The driver of the transport, which wound up in a field on the other side of the eastbound lanes, was uninjured.
Highway 401 is closed this morning in both directions between Kent Bridge Road and Communication Road as police continue to investigate.
