Dive-thru?
A local man faces charges after someone tried to turn a drive-thru into a dive-thru Tuesday night.
Chatham-Kent police got the call shortly before 11:30 p.m. of a strange break and enter attempt at a St. Clair Street restaurant in Chatham.
A man opened the drive-thru window and climbed in. The man was confronted by employees but continued to look for money.
Police arrived and located the man still inside the restaurant.
A 35-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with breaking and entering.
Hidden identity effort fails
A late night excursion led to charges against a local man early Wednesday morning.
Police learned of a report of a suspicious person about 3:10 a.m. on Seventh Line West in Raleigh Township. They received information the man was observed walking near a commercial business.
Police arrived and located the man walking on the Highway 401 overpass on Bloomfield Road wearing a scarf covering his face. The man attempted to hide his identity by providing a false name, police say. It was learned the man was bound by conditions of a release order, including being inside his residence between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. and not possessing any break-and-enter tools.
Upon incident to arrest, the man was searched, and items such as an angle grinder, hack saw, bolt cutter and metal cutting disks were found.
A 34-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with obstructing police, wearing a disguise with intent, possessing break-in tools and two counts of breaching a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
