• “Indigenous History in Canada” presented at the Spirit and Life Centre, 184 Wellington St, W., Chatham. The presenters are Tesa Fiddler and Sharon Giroux. Tesa and Sharon, educators and former presenters at the United Nations, will provide a brief historical overview of Indigenous people in Canada, highlighting key events and their ongoing impact on Indigenous communities. They will also explore the efforts of the Ontario English Catholic Teacher’s Association (OECTA) in fostering inclusive, safe and accepting educational environments for both staff and students. Participants will gain insights into the association’s initiatives, resources, and strategies aimed at promoting reconciliation and meaningful support for Indigenous perspectives within the education system. Our third summer ghost walk starts from the back parking lot of Harvey’s Restaurant and continues over the Third St bridge to enter the historic and haunted downtown of King St. West. You will hear about a girl in a blue dress,  a fire that left a single glass of wine untouched, unexpected visitors to the Kent Club plus other ghostly encounters and finish at Turns and Tales where ghost walk participants will receive a 10% discount on any drink purchase. Tickets will be available at www.eventbrite.com starting on Monday, June 29th at noon. $17 plus Eventbrite fees for an Adult ticket. Escape the ordinary for a fun night of chills and thrills. • Jordan’s Run the Runway at the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport. Now in its third year in Chatham-Kent, Jordan’s Run the Runway, presented by Siskinds LLP, is a one-of-a-kind fast and flat 5K run, walk, roll or pole.  To be held at the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. A rain or shine event, it is open to participants of all ages and abilities, offering an unforgettable evening of fun and celebration. Funds raised help to support financial assistance that allows low-income or vulnerable children, youth, families and seniors access to YMCA programs and services.
