• Ward 5 residents will have an opportunity to engage directly withMayoral and Ward 5 Council candidates ahead of the upcoming municipal election. A Candidate Meet & Greet is scheduled at the Wallaceburg UAW Hall, located at 88 Elm Drive South, Wallaceburg.
The free, public event runs from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and is designed to foster open dialogue between constituents and the candidates seeking to represent them.
The evening will feature the following schedule: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Social Hour. 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Mayoral Candidate Q&A Session. 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Ward 5 Candidate Q&A Session. The Q&A sessions will be moderated. Candidates will receive two questions in advance; all remaining questions will be drawn at random from community submissions and will not be provided beforehand. Each candidate will be given a set time limit to respond.
Constituents are encouraged to reach out to candidates prior to the event to submit potential questions for the moderated portion. Time permitting, attendees may also ask questions directly from the floor following the moderated session. Doors open at 6:00 PM. All community members are welcome, and no pre-registration is required.

Sunday, October 25, 2026:
•  Tom Waits fans in Southwestern Ontario are in for a rare musical treat when the Tom Waits Appreciation Congregation – five exceptionally talented Toronto musicians – drop into the Czech Hall in Dresden to do a show at 2:00 p.m. Tom Waits, the gravelly-voiced blues singer/songwriter, has written and performed some of the most emotionally-charged tunes in the genre. His followers and fans are almost cultish in their reverence for the living legend. The Appreciation Congregation performs to packed houses in Toronto on a regular basis and has built up a substantial following over the years. “The Tom Waits Appreciation Congregation comprise of some of the best musicians in all of Toronto coming together for their love of Tom Waits and paying tribute to him and his music!” Gardiner, who operated the Glass Onion Folk Club in Wallaceburg for over 25 years, has always felt that people in Southwestern Ontario shouldn’t have to travel to the big city to see and hear a quality performance. “The Czech Hall is the perfect venue for this show,” he said. “Lots of room for all these Tom Waits’ fans.” Tickets for the show, which cost $30 each, can be obtained by calling 519-683-2097…you can also call 519-627-5978….or by emailing: [email protected].
