A Tuesday night dispute turned violent, according to Chatham-Kent police, and resulted in a local man facing assault charges.
At 11:08 p.m., police responded to Campus Parkway for a domestic dispute.
Through investigation, police learned a verbal argument escalated when a man wrapped his arm around a woman’s neck, causing her breathing to be restricted.
A 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Assault suspect arrested
Shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Chatham-Kent police spotted a woman on Grand Avenue West in Chatham, whom they say was on their wanted list.
The woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for assault related to an incident that occurred on Dec. 20.
A 24-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and charged with assault. She was released with a future court date.
Women turn themselves in
After skipping out on court dates, a woman showed up Tuesday morning at Chatham-Kent police headquarters to turn herself in.
Police say she popped in the door shortly before 8 a.m.
The woman was wanted on several warrants for failing to attend court.
A 33-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and held pending a bail hearing.

Two hours later, the doors to headquarters opened again, and another woman strode inside.
Police say this visitor was wanted for failing to comply with a probation order, theft, and mischief.
The 28-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and released with conditions and a future court date.
Skipped court date
Police attended an address on Delaware Avenue in Chatham Tuesday morning, reportedly to stand by and keep the peace. While at the location, police learned a man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.
A 36-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
