Spread some warmth and honour a loved one this holiday season by taking part in the 33rd annual Christmas Wish Tree campaign.

A yearly tradition, the event offers Chatham-Kent residents an opportunity to make a donation to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance to remember a loved one. For each donation, a light will be added to the Christmas Wish Trees at both the Chatham and Wallaceburg hospital sites.

The memorial trees will be lit up during special ceremonies where attendees will celebrate the lives of loved ones. This year’s tree lighting ceremonies will be held on Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. at CKHA’s Wallaceburg site, and on Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. at CKHA’s Chatham site.

Funds raised will support the purchase of new warming cabinets, used to warm linens and blankets for patients.

The legacies of the lives of local health-care advocates who have passed on will also be celebrated. A purple bulb will be illuminated on the Christmas Wish Tree for each ‘Legacy of Giving’ honouree. This year’s honourees are Dr. Angelita Allen, Steven Bilodeau, Rex Crawford, John Meko Sr., Richard (Dick) Pollock and Ruth Tetrault.

A host of sponsors are also supporting the CKHA Foundation campaign. They include presenting sponsor Karen Ewald, vice-president and portfolio manager of RBC Wealth Management Dominion Securities. Other partners include MC Business Solutions, Western Equipment Ltd., WINMAR International Ltd., and Five Star Tool and Die Ltd.
