Chatham-Kent Public Library will be celebrating “One Card, a Million Possibilities” during the Ontario Public Library Week (OPLW). Library cards are free to all residents of Chatham-Kent until Oct. 22 at any of the 11 library locations.

Library cards can provide you access to a diverse collection of books, magazines, movies, e-books, music, and e-audiobooks.

There will also be special activities, crafts, and displays during the celebration. The highlight is a tiny art festival which is an exhibition created by the Chatham-Kent community members.

Lastly, in celebration of OPLW Ontario Library Service is co-ordinating a digital book club program called “Together We Read: Ontario.” We welcome everyone in this inclusive digital book program. This year’s title is “Still Hopeful” by Maude Barlow. It will be available from Libby with no waitlist or holds from Oct. 17 to Oct. 10.

There is a new CKPL digital resource called PressReader which gives you access to newspapers from all around the world. CKPL has also launched a new online catalog that will give library members the ability to find their soon-to-be new favorite material that includes all books, large print, regular print, playaway, e-book, audiobook, and books on CD. Library members will be able to find the items listed in a much simpler way by just typing the title of the book in the search bar. All titles that are available will show up on the screen as a single result.
