Parking signs stolen

Chatham-Kent police say they arrested a man Wednesday after someone stole handicap parking signs in Chatham.

Officers got the call shortly before 11 a.m. of a suspicious person on King Street East in Chatham.

They arrived and found the suspect. After a quick investigation, police say the officers found the man to have stolen handicap parking signs.

A 51-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with theft and possessing stolen property.

Bow complaint leads to breach charges

Speaking of suspicious persons, officers were called to Grand Avenue West shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday over another suspicious person call. This time, witnesses said a fellow was spotted with a compound bow.  

Police located the man and, through investigation, learned he was wanted on two outstanding warrants, failing to comply with a probation order and failing to comply with a DNA order.

He was also on conditions not to possess weapons of any kind.

Police seized the compound bow and arrested the man.

A 46-year-old man was charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

Drug charge in Wallaceburg

A traffic stop in Wallaceburg led to the arrest of the passenger.

Last night at 7:33 p.m., police pulled a vehicle over on Elgin Street in Wallaceburg. 

Through investigation, police discovered the passenger was wanted on an outstanding warrant and had been released by the courts in November of 2019, with a condition not to possess any unlawful drug or substance. 

Upon arrest, the man was found in possession of suspected fentanyl. 

A 42-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with the release order and possessing a controlled substance.
