It’s been 60 years but Bridgerama 2.0 is ready to roll this Saturday.

Hosted by the Historic Downtown Chatham BIA, the event was to mark the re-opening of the Third Street Bridge following an extensive 15-month revamp.

However, with railings not yet built, let alone delivered, the bridge will not re-open as scheduled, but Bridgerama will take place.

The festivities are patterned in part on the structure’s original opening in 1962, when three days of activities were held to commemorate the historic event.

Bridgerama Day 2022 will kick off at 11 a.m. and run to 7 p.m., with Mayor Darrin Canniff launching the event.

The official line-up of performers, activities and vendors will be announced July 21, according BD2022 organizer Clair Culliford.

There’s still an opportunity to participate as Culliford said there are available openings to host a booth. Interested performers, crafters and community groups can contact downtownchathambia@gmail.com.

Culliford said organizers have been careful to choose the “most interesting and varied line-up possible,” to showcase talent in Chatham-Kent.

There will also be a fun children’s area for youngsters, along with crafters, painters, writers and more.
