Theft, drug charges

Yesterday at about 9:15 p.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a suspicious person call on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

The person was located with several items from the Super Store.

Further investigation revealed that the property had just been stolen from the Super Store, a store he was under court conditions not to attend.

A 51-year-old Chatham man has been charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and one count of failing to comply with his release conditions.

Upon being searched, incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl.

He was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Stolen vehicle

Just before 8 a.m. yesterday, a vehicle that was left running outside of a Tim Horton’s on Lacroix Street in Chatham was stolen.

Surveillance video showed two suspects stealing the motor vehicle.

Shortly after, police received a driving complaint with the same vehicle.

The suspects, a 25-year-old Chatham woman and a 41-year-old Chatham man, were located, arrested, charged with theft of motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime, under $5,000.

B&E

Yesterday at approximately 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to a call of a break and enter on Copperfield Crescent in Chatham. Through investigation, officers learned that sometime since Saturday, someone entered the home and stole approximately $2,500 worth of construction materials.
