Threatened with a shard of glass
A Chatham man has a lot to answer to after someone kicked in a door and threatened staff at a store last night.
Chatham-Kent police say it all took place around 9 p.m. at a store on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Police learned that when the man was asked to leave the store, he kicked the front doors, causing the glass to shatter.
The man then picked up a jagged shard of glass and walked back into the business and approached an employee in a threatening manner while yelling obscenities, police say.
A local citizen intervened and escorted the man outside to await police arrival.
A 29-year-old Chatham man is charged with mischief, assault with a weapon and being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Theft charges
Around 3 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious person on Gladstone Avenue in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man entered a vehicle and stole personal identification and bankcards.
The man used the debit card at various gas stations and convenience stores. With the assistance of video surveillance, police identified the man responsible and he was located within the hour walking on St. Clair Street.
A 28-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested. Upon being searched, he was found in possession of the victim’s identification, bankcards and lottery tickets purchased with the stolen debit card.
He has been charged with theft, possession of property obtained by a crime, fraud and failing to comply with his release conditions.
Someone’s stealing trucks in Thamesville
Sometime early this morning, someone stole a red 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck from a residence on Wallace Street.
The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates AB25 838.

Sometime late last night or early this morning, someone stole a 2000 grey GMC Sierra pick-up truck from a residence on Industrial Road.
The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates BN44 585.
