Trafficking charges

Late last night, a Chatham-Kent police officer on general patrol observed a man riding a bicycle on Degge Street in Chatham.

A traffic stop was initiated and through investigation, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl and large quantity of cash.

A 39-year-old Chatham man is charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.

Around 4:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to a residence on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg to assist EMS.

Through investigation, a woman in the residence was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, debt list and a scale.

The 21-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking. She remains in police custody this morning.

Citizen’s complaint leads to arrest

Shortly after 5 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a break and enter in progress at Trillium Village in Chatham.

Police located the man near a laundry room window with tools in hand. Through investigation, police learned that the man was currently wanted on several warrants and that he was bound by a curfew.

A 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested on the outstanding warrants and further charged with trespassing by night, failing to comply with his release conditions, being in possession of stolen cheques and break and enter tools. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen wheels

Sometime between July 16 at 11 a.m. and July 21 at 9 a.m., someone stole a black 2018 Ford Fusion from a parking lot on Trillium Lane.

The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates MUGSZEE.

B&E

Sometime between July 18 at 7 p.m. and July 21 at 4:30 p.m., someone forced their way into a residence on Grand Avenue East, causing about $200 damage.

Once inside, the suspect(s) stole an LG speaker tower with turntable, paint supplies and four trespassing signs. Total value of the theft has been estimated at $820.
