Drug, resist arrest charges

Thursday afternoon, police located a man in Wallaceburg who was wanted in connection with a theft investigation. As the man was placed under arrest on the outstanding warrant, police say he resisted the officer.

Following a short struggle, the man was taken into custody. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl.

A 30-year-old Wallaceburg man is additionally charged with resist arrest and drug possession. He was released pending a future court date.

Late-night gardening?

Shortly after 1 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious man in Legion Park on Thames Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was digging up flowers in the park.

A 42-year-old Camden Township man is charged with mischief.

Caught behind the wheel of a stolen SUV

This morning around 2:30 a.m. police responded to the report of a stolen vehicle from a property on King Street West in Chatham.

A short time later, the vehicle was observed in a parking lot on McNaughton Avenue West. Upon police arrival, the woman was observed in the driver’s seat and taken into custody.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the woman was found to be in possession of two stolen credit cards.

A 31-year-old Windsor woman has been charged with possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000, theft of credit card, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and three counts of failing to comply with her release conditions. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Suspicious vehicle, suspicious men

Last night around 6:30 p.m. police were contacted regarding a suspicious vehicle.

Through investigation, police learned that earlier in the day, around 2:15 p.m. a white van, bearing Ontario license plates BD 69460, attended a residence on the north side of Chatham.

The two male occupants entered the backyard of a residence and ask the young girl doing her homework outside about the family’s Internet and fibre optics.

The men left when the girl called a family member and took a photo of the van.

At no time, did the men attempt to lure the girl away from her home or make physical contact with her.

The incident remains under investigation and serves as a reminder for parents to talk to their kids about personal safety.

Suspended driver

Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg initiated a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue near Arnold Street in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the man was suspended.

A 27-year-old Sarnia man was arrested and charged with driving while under suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and being a class G1 driver unaccompanied by a qualified driver.

His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.
