Drugs, stolen motorcycle seized

A drug raid by Chatham-Kent police yesterday led to the arrest of two Chatham residents, the seizure of a variety of drugs and the recovery of a stolen motorcycle.

Last Monday, someone stole a 2003 silver Suzuki SK3 motorcycle from a residence on Couture Drive in Chatham.

Yesterday, members of the CKPS Intelligence Section executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence on Lorne Avenue in Chatham.

A quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, liquid fentanyl and liquid methamphetamine was seized. Officers also seized debt lists, digital scales, cash and recovered the stolen motorcycle.

Kenneth Shoemaker, 40, of Chatham, is charged with being in possession of stolen property and two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking. He was released pending a future court date.

Angelica Osborne, 29, is charged with drug possession. She was released pending a future court date.

Theft of ATV

Sometime between Monday at 4:30 p.m. and yesterday at 4 p.m. someone stole a light grey and orange 2017 Can Am Maverick ATV from a residence on Longwoods Road in Thamesville.

The ATV was last seen with Ontario license plate 9EC44.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $22,000.

Storage units entered

Sometime between Tuesday at 5 p.m. and yesterday at 8 a.m., someone entered five storage units on Community Road.  

Police are still working with the owners to determine what, if anything, was stolen from the storage units.

Tools stolen

Sometime between Tuesday at 11 p.m. and yesterday at 8 a.m. someone forced their way into a garage on St. Clair Street in Chatham, causing about $100 damage.

Once inside, the suspect(s) stole approximately $800 in various tools.

Failing to comply

On June 24, a man was released from court with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Ridgetown woman or attend her home.

Around 3 a.m. this morning, police responded to a disturbance at the woman’s home and officers found the man in the bathroom.

A 26-year-old Ajax man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Warrants

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of a suspicious man in the area of a business on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Officers located the man and through investigation learned that he was wanted by Brantford Police.

An 18-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and transported to Brantford for court purposes.

Late yesterday afternoon, police located a man in Wallaceburg who was wanted for three incidents relating to theft of gas.

A 45-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
