Fail to stop, drug charges

Yesterday afternoon, a Chatham-Kent police officer on general patrol attempted to stop a man, known to be a suspended driver, riding a motorcycle on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg. 

Police say the man failed to stop for the officer and sped away. 

The officer located the motorcycle on Lafontaine Street a short time later and the man was arrested. 

Upon being searched incident to arrest, police say the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine. 

Jessy Elder, 24, of Dresden, is charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while under suspension, breach of probation and two counts of drug possession. 

Man charged with assault

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a domestic dispute at a residence in Wheatley.

A 21-year-old Wheatley man is charged with assault.  

Disturbance leads to assault charges

Last night, police responded to a disturbance over a parking spot on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a man swung a baseball bat towards another man and pushed a second man.

A 60-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and assault with a weapon. 

Drug possession 

Around 1:30 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a suspicious man on Lowe Avenue in Wallaceburg.

 

Through investigation, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and psilocybin.

Thomas Minto, 35, of Wallaceburg, was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions by being in possession of illicit drugs, and two counts of drug possession. ATV stolen

Sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday, someone entered an unlocked barn on Chenal Road and stole a red 2012 Suzuki ATV.

Fail to comply

In 2018, a man was released from Court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to attend the residence of a Tilbury woman. 

Yesterday morning, police say the man was observed in the woman’s driveway. 

A 56-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.
