Wear a mask on the buses

A week after opening up all seats once more on CKTransit buses and asking riders to wear a mask, the rules are about to change.

Effective Wednesday, CKTransit will switch from highly recommended to mandatory.

Officials said the change is being made with the support of CK Public Health.

With the removal of seating limitations last week and with ridership increasing as Chatham-Kent continues to enter Stage 3 of Ontario’s COVID-19 Reopening Plan, physical distancing will not always be possible on buses. Therefore, riders will now be required to wear a face covering prior to entering the bus and continue to wear it until they exit the bus.

Chatham-Kent continues to support physical distancing wherever possible which is in concert with Provincial Health Guidelines. Keep two metres between yourself and others. Practice good personal hygiene including frequent hand washing with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.

If you are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms, stay home.

Service providers continue to perform enhanced cleaning procedures on all vehicles.
