CKTransit is opening up all seats on its buses starting Wednesday, but officials urge riders to wear a mask.
Transit officials said ridership has been increasing, and as a result, they will remove the seating limit that was imposed back in March at the onset of the pandemic.
Still, officials said, in concert with provincial health guidelines, riders are highly recommended to wear face coverings on public transit vehicles. Physical distancing will not always be possible on buses with the removal of the seating limit.
It is important for riders to practice physical distancing wherever possible, including at bus stops. Keep two metres between yourself and others, according to CK Transit personnel, and practice good personal hygiene including frequent hand washing with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.
If you are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms, officials ask that you stay home.
Service providers continue to perform enhanced cleaning procedures on all vehicles.
