The Lord Selkirk Bridge in Wallaceburg will be closed next Thursday for the day.
Municipal officials say the closure is for personnel to test and commission the bridge.
Heavy vehicles are asked to use Base Line Bridge, while local/commercial traffic can utilize the Murray Street Bridge.
Jason Cikatricis, an engineering technologist with the municipality, said the work being done next week is essentially “opening and closing the bridge a number of times to ensure all the mechanical and electrical components are functioning properly. When the bridge is operated, there is a specific sequence of internal and external operations that must function correctly in order for the bridge to successfully open and close.”
