B&E charges

Around 8:00 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to a break and enter at a home under construction on Cabot Trail in Chatham. Approximately $3,000 worth of tools were stolen.

Through investigation, police obtained surveillance video showing two people on bicycles carrying items on their handlebars. Officers learned that the pair went to a local motel and then took a cab to a residence on Grey Street, leaving a stolen item behind in the cab.

Officers identified the pair responsible and they were both arrested around 12:30 p.m.

The 35-year-old man and 37-year-old woman, both from Chatham, were charged with break and enter and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. They were transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with theft

Last night around 7 p.m. a resident of Andrea Drive in Chatham reported that his mountain bicycle was just stolen. A physical description of the suspect was provided to police.

Officers located the man riding the bicycle on Princess Street in Chatham just before 10 p.m.

Ryan Haggerty, 36 years, of Chatham was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000. He was released pending a future court date of May 29.

B&E charge

Last night, just before 7:30 p.m., officers located an insecure door at the rear of a business under construction on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

Through investigation, police located a man in the area in possession of tools stolen from the business.

Herbert Sandercock, 61 years, Chatham was arrested and charged with break and enter and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000. He was released pending a future court date of May 29.

Failing to Comply

Last Friday, the man was released from court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to remain in his residence at all times unless with his surety.

Early yesterday morning, police located the man in a residence on Grand Avenue East in Chatham without his surety being present.

The 41-year-old Thamesville man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions. He was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Around 1 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious man and woman behind a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police located the pair and learned that the man was wanted for failing to attend court last week.

The 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
