It began with riding a bike without a light, and ended with a man behind bars last night in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police say an officer spotted a man riding his bike without proper lighting and equipment in the area of Princess Street and Colborne Street in Chatham last night.

The officer pulled the man over, and police say the man gave the cop two different names.

That resulted in an arrest for obstructing police, but police say the man pulled away from the officer and a struggle ensued.

The officer won and the man was taken into custody. The officer learned the man’s actual name and that he was wanted for breaching his probation order and failing to attend court.

A search during his arrest also yielded a quantity of methamphetamine, police say.

A 43-year-old Chatham man is charged with obstructing police, resist arrest and drug possession.
