Students at Ecole Sainte Catherine in Paincourt ham it up as they enjoy a special lunch day on Dec. 3. A team belonging to Cathren`s Bon Appetit Inc. and We Are One, as well as parent-volunteers, helped serve a nutritious lunch as their third test-run lunch to elementary schools in Chatham-Kent.

Cathy Staal and Sally Joyce, founders of the group, started working toward a National Nutritional School Lunch Program in 2006.

In the 2019 federal budget, the government announced it would work with provinces and territories towards a national school food program.

Canada is lagging behind most countries in providing a hot lunch to all elementary students.
