Cathy Staal and Sally Joyce, founders of the group, started working toward a National Nutritional School Lunch Program in 2006.
In the 2019 federal budget, the government announced it would work with provinces and territories towards a national school food program.
Canada is lagging behind most countries in providing a hot lunch to all elementary students.
