Chatham-Kent police are on the lookout for the person who tried to rob Harvey Variety last night in Chatham.

Police say a lone man, wearing a balaclava, walked into the variety store about 8 p.m. Sunday night, pulled out a weapon and demanded money.

The cashier refused, police say, and a struggle ensued. No one was injured and the man fled the scene.

Police say the man was last seen wearing a dark gray coat with three stripes down each sleeve, black cargo-style pants, black shoes with white around the soles and light-coloured gloves.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Rob Rose at robro@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6625. Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.
