Of bikes, wheels and failing to comply

Chatham-Kent police had a busy 24 hours recently, picking up people for a variety of failures.

That included a woman spotted riding a bike without a light on Adelaide Street about 5 a.m. this morning. Police say an officer pulled her over for that violation and learned she is bound by a curfew from back in May to not be out between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

A 35-year-old Chatham woman is charged with failing to comply.

A 26-year-old Chatham woman also faces failing to comply charges after a woman for whatever reason did not show up to report to the Bail Supervision Program last month after getting out of custody with reporting to the program as one of her release conditions.

Last night, shortly after 11:30 p.m., an officer spotted a woman driving on Richmond Street in Chatham. By running the license plates, police say the officer learned the owner of the vehicle was under suspension from driving for unpaid fines, and was also wanted for breaching a probation order.

A 35-year-old Chatham woman is charged with driving while under suspension and failing to comply.

A missed court appearance caught up with a Chatham man early this morning.

Police say back on May 28, a man did not attend court as scheduled, and a warrant went out for his arrest.

Officers spotted their suspect on Gray Street in Chatham about 4 a.m.

A 26-year-old Lambton County man is charged with failing to attend. He was released and now has a future court date of July 24.
