The Samaritan’s Purse campaign is underway to collect much-needed items for families living in poverty in developing countries.

The annual campaign captures the Christmas spirit throughout Canada, with thousands of individuals, families, churches, businesses, sports teams, and community groups packing shoe boxes with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items. Personal notes and photos may also be included if desired.

Samaritan’s Purse will deliver the gift-filled shoe boxes to children around the world living in the midst of poverty, disease, war, and natural disaster.

In 2017, Canadians filled more than 615,120 shoe boxes with gifts and 2,581 of those shoe boxes were packed right here in Chatham-Kent.

National Shoe Box Collection Week is scheduled for Nov. 12-18. Boxes collected in Canada this year will be sent to Western Africa, Latin America & The Caribbean.

Pick-up & drop-off locations are at Gregory Drive Alliance Church, Dresden Community Church and First Baptist Church in Wallaceburg.
