Thieves apparently hit the jackpot hitting an unlocked rural home Wednesday.
Police say sometime between 8 a.m. and 2:25 p.m., someone got into a residence on English Line and made off with a mahogany jewelry box that contained numerous valuables, a 55-inch Samsung Smart TV, a black Lenovo laptop, and a canvas box containing personal identification and documents.
Total value of the theft is pegged at about $23,000.
