Two arrests in one day for Zone Twp. woman

A  woman was arrested twice in one day for for alcohol-related offences in Chatham.

Yesterday morning, police received a call about an erratic driver on Grand Avenue.  An officer on general patrol found the vehicle parked in a parking lot with the driver passed out in the backseat.  An open bottle of alcohol was also located near the driver’s seat.  Through investigation, the officer believed the woman was driving her vehicle under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested.  She was transported to police headquarters for breath tests where she refused to comply.

The 34-year-old Zone Township woman was charged with failing to provide a breath sample.  She was released when sober pending a future court date of September 6.

Then last night around 9:45 p.m. police were called to the area of Queen Street in Chatham in regards to an intoxicated woman.  Officers found the woman who was unable to care for herself.  For her own safety, she was arrested and transported to police headquarters.  She has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place.  She will be released when sober.
