Police were kept busy last night dealing with a pair of shoplifters in separate incidents.
Last night, around 6:45 p.m. police were called to Shopper’s Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham in regards to a shoplifting complaint. The woman stole approximately $80 worth of cosmetics.
A 24-year-old woman from Chatham has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released with conditions pending a future court date of May 11, 2016.
And then around 8:30 p.m. last night, police responded to Walmart in Chatham about a shoplifting complaint. The woman concealed items and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise.
A 36-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released pending a future court date.
