A 24-year-old London man is facing charges of impaired driving after being arrested at the eastbound OnRoute Service Centre early Saturday morning.
On April 2 just before 2:00 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a driving complaint of a Volkswagen car driving erratically on Highway 401 eastbound just before the OnRoute Service Centre. The vehicle was then seen exiting the highway into the parking lot of the service centre.
Officers located the vehicle parked in the parking lot of the eastbound OnRoute Service Centre, with the vehicle engine idling. Officers had conversation with the male who was seated in the driver’s seat and it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Subsequent tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit.
He will appear in court April 26.
