On January 1, a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 near Charing Cross Road.
Just before 9:00 p.m., the officer observed an eastbound Mazda 3 that appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. The RADAR registered a speed of approximately 165 km/hr.
The 18 year-old male driver from Brampton has been charged with racing. The driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days, as per statute.
