On Dec. 16 a Chatham man was released from the courts with several conditions, after being charged with domestic assault. One of the conditions was not to contact of communicate directly or indirectly with the victim. Upon his release, the victim was advised of his release from custody, and all of his conditions.
In the evening of Dec. 23 Chatham-Kent Police observed both the male and female at a location on King St, Chatham. They were well aware of each other’s presence, the accused didn’t leave the area and the victim was not being held against her own will. Both parties were subsequently arrested.
The 25 year old Chatham man was charged with Breach of Recognizance, and held for bail. The 29 year old Chatham female was charged with Abetting the Breach, and released with a future court date.
