Shoplifting charges

Last night around 6:00 p.m. a woman at the Sears store on King Street was observed by the loss prevention officer placing place items in her purse and a brand new toque on her head.

The woman left the store making no attempt to pay for the merchandise. Store security apprehended the woman for shoplifting and police were notified.

Through investigation, police determined that the woman had stolen 10 shirts, a toque and pair of gloves.

A 33-year-old Fourth Street woman in Chatham was charged with theft under $5000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released with conditions pending a future court date of December 16, 2015.
