Man charged for resisting arrest

Too much booze, a little soccer, and then some pepper spray.

That, in a nutshell, was Tuesday evening for a Walpole Island man, according to police.

Police say about 10:20 last night, officers found an intoxicated man at near the field house at Steinhoff Park in Wallaceburg. The man was disturbing spectators at a soccer, game according to police, and he was arrested for being drunk in public.

As the officers took the man to the cruiser, police say the man reacted violently, trying to heat butt the officers and then he began to kick, hitting both officers.

The cops then used pepper spray to subdue their suspect.

A 45-year-old Walpole Island man is charged with assault with intent to resist arrest.
