A Chatham teen is in hot water in connection with the theft of a pickup truck.
Police say someone stole a 2013 copper-coloured Ram pickup sometime overnight Sunday from a Churchill Street residence.
On Monday night, about 11:15 p.m., police received a tip that the truck was in the north end of Chatham. Officers found the truck parked on Sheldon Avenue.
Police say with the help of witnesses they identified the driver. And a search of the stolen truck yielded the suspect’s house key.
On Tuesday morning, shortly after 4 a.m., officers entered the suspect’s apartment with a warrant for his arrest. He wasn’t home, despite being bound by a daily curfew, police say.
About 12 hours later, the cops found their suspect and made the arrest.
A 17-year-old Chatham youth is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and failing to comply.
