When a store is closing, the term “everything must go” doesn’t mean it’s all free.
Tell that to a Chatham woman.
Police say about 4 p.m. a woman walked into Target in Chatham, strolled over to the electronics department, snapped up a speaker and three sets of headphones, and put them in her backpack before leaving the store without bothering to pay for them.
The value of the items stolen is estimated at about $350.
But the goods didn’t stay missing for long, as police located the woman at a nearby residence, recovered the items and made the arrest.
A 29-year-old Chatham woman is charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
