The U-9 Postma Heating and Cooling Chatham Thunder girls took top spot in the London Lynx tournament on the weekend.

They finished the tourney with a 3-1 record, topping Pickering 7-6 in the gold medal match, defeating a team that beat them to open the tournament.

Friday, Pickering won 8-6. Faith Koning led the way for Chatham with the hat trick, while Kaia Rivard added a pair and Myah Walters chipped in with a single.

Chatham started its roll the next day, beating London 9-5 and Dorchester 8-6.

Koning had five goals against London, Walters and Thompson added two each.

Kate Thompson had five points, including three goals to lead Chatham over Dorchester. Maya Haines and Walters had two apiece, and Rivard had one.

In the gold medal contest, Chatham fell behind by four goals but rallied for the win.

Thompson scored with just 15 seconds left to give Chatham the win.

It was Thompson’s fourth goal of the game. Rivard, Brooke Howe and Koning added goals as well.
