A Chatham man is behind bars after someone broke into a home early this morning and hid in the basement.
Police say just after 3 a.m., they received a call about a break-in. Officers arrived to learn the homeowner and two friends said the person who broke in was hiding in the basement.
Police say the officers found the man hiding under blankets on the floor. Investigation also revealed the man was bound by a probation order to not be within 50 metres of the house.
A 23-year-old Chatham man faces charges of break and enter, and failing to comply.
