Surprise! A local man didn’t comply with his release conditions.

Chatham-Kent police say a man entered into a probation order in January, with one of the conditions being that he has a daily curfew of 10 p.m.

Five months later, he was released on a Recognizance, with a condition to remain in his place of residence at all times except for medical emergencies or attending court.

Wait for it…

So, last night, about 11:30 p.m., an officer on patrol noticed the man walking on Queen Street, police say.

Yep, 11:30 p.m. – 90 minutes after his probation-ordered curfew, at a time of day when court certainly wasn’t in session, and apparently not for a medical emergency.

An 18-year-old Chatham man now faces two counts of failing to comply in connection with the incident.
