Dresden has a new family doctor, as Dr. Imran Ibrahim joined the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team Monday.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Ibrahim join our team,” Laura Johnson, executive director of the health team, said in a release. “The news that he will be joining the Dresden site is wonderful.  We are aware of the need for family physicians and are continually recruiting for patients that do not have a family doctor.  We are excited to have him and his family as part of our medical community.”

Ibrahim studied at the University of Punjab Lahore in Pakistan.  He spent several years practicing in the United Kingdom before moving to Saskatchewan where he practiced as well.

Ibrahim said he and his family opted to relocate here as a result of the warm community.

“Our family chose Chatham-Kent to practice because we fell in love with the warm and welcoming atmosphere,” he said in a media release. “After a visit to the area and speaking with colleagues who are already practicing here, we knew it would be a perfect fit.”

Anyone in need of a family doctor should register with Health Care Connect by calling 1-800-445-1822 or go to www.health.gov.on.ca. Patients will only be accepted through this method.
