Chatham-Kent Mayor Randy Hope and a selection of municipal staff were serenaded on Earth Day.
About 100 students from grades 1 to 3 at King George VI School in Chatham sang in council chambers Tuesday.
Led by primary grades music director/teacher Cristina Perini, the kids sang several songs that had a common theme – being more environmentally conscious.
The children received maple saplings to plant, as well as their own miniature recycling boxes.
Hope told the students they provided a “different flavour,” as no one has ever sang for him on Earth Day during his two terms as mayor.
