Chatham-Kent police are investigating two cases of theft on Berry Street in Chatham Thursday.

Police say sometime between 12:45 p.m. and 1 p.m., a man entered an unlocked home and stole a small quantity of cash.

The homeowner returned and witnessed the male running out the front door, police say.

The suspect is described as about 5-foot-10, and was wearing jeans, a light-grey hooded sweatshirt and red winter hat.

About four hours later, police were back on Berry Street after a homeowner reported that sometime between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. someone stole about $150 worth of jewelry.

Police say a witness saw a young white male with short dark hair, wearing blue jeans and a maroon striped hooded sweatshirt leaving the residence around noon, with a bag in hand.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Brad Hessel at 519-436-6600, ext. 87270 or Const. Bryan Parker at ext. 87172 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Earlier this week, a woman lost control of her SUV and drove right into a house on Berry Street. Police are still investigating.
