About 30 people attended a soils workshop recently at Glad Tidings Church in Blenheim.

The event, put on by the Greening Partnership and Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority, addressed the importance and value of cover crops, and how to test soil for nutrient levels.

Two landowners, the Segeren and Stewart families, were honoured for environmental leadership. The families, both from Rondeau Bay, planted more than 8,000 trees.

A grant from the Ontario Ministry of Ag and Food, to help mitigate phosphorous levels in the Great Lakes, funded the workshop.
